Kiwifruit Picking – Seasonal Orchard Work (March – April)

Be part of the harvest team that brings premium New Zealand kiwifruit from the orchard to the world. As a kiwifruit picker, you’ll carefully harvest fruit using the correct techniques demonstrated by your supervisor to ensure only top-quality fruit makes it to the bin.

You’ll be provided with picking aprons, gloves, and safety glasses to help you work comfortably and safely. Care must be taken when emptying your apron into the fruit bins to avoid bruising the fruit. Supervisors and quality controllers will guide you along the way to ensure standards are met.

The role also involves working around harvest tractors, so you’ll need to follow the correct procedures, remain alert, and look after both yourself and your co-workers.

This role is ideal for people who enjoy outdoor work, can follow instructions carefully, and take pride in contributing to a successful harvest season.

Attention to detail – carefully selects fruit and handles it gently to avoid damage or bruising.
Good hand–eye coordination – ensures safe and efficient picking and bin transfer.
Physical fitness and stamina – able to work outdoors for long periods, often carrying full aprons of fruit.
Safety awareness – follows correct procedures when working around tractors and other equipment.
Ability to follow instructions – listens to and applies guidance from supervisors and quality controllers.
Consistency – maintains a steady pace while meeting quality standards.
