Kiwifruit Pruning – Seasonal Orchard Work (June – August)
oin our team and play an important role in shaping next season’s kiwifruit crop. As a pruner, you’ll carefully remove old or excess wood, lay down new canes, and secure them in place with correct spacing (450mm–500mm apart). Your work directly influences vine health and fruit quality, so attention to detail is essential.
You’ll be trained to use pruning equipment safely and correctly, ensuring cuts are clean and precise. Any larger cuts will need to be sealed with a protective paint to prevent disease. It’s also important to protect buds and avoid damage to new canes while working.
Alongside pruning, you’ll be required to:
- Follow the guidance and instructions of the Quality Supervisor.
- Identify, label, and report any signs of disease.
- Report and label any broken wires, posts, or structural issues in the orchard.
This role suits people who are practical, attentive, and enjoy outdoor work. If you’re motivated, safety-conscious, and take pride in doing quality work, pruning could be a great seasonal opportunity for you.
